In the distant future, the Hunter-Gregory ship is carrying passengers in cryostasis. Among them, a Muslim preacher, who goes by the imam, travels to New Mecca with three young sons, a boy named Jack, a couple named Shasza and Zake, a businessman named Paris and a law enforcement officer, William Johns, to save notorious criminal Richard B. Riddick (a) Riddick has illegally modified eyes that allow him to see in the dark but are highly sensitive to light.
The wreckage from the tail of a comet breaks the hull of the ship, kills the captain and closes the ship. The surviving crew members try to land the ship on a nearby planet. As the ship falls apart, docking pilot Carolyn Fry tries to dump the passenger section to reduce her weight but co-pilot Owens stops her. During the accident, many passenger compartments are destroyed and Owens is badly injured.
The group explored its surroundings, writing that three suns around the planet keep it in daylight. They find an abandoned geological research disposal, with a water well and a drop with a battery filled with water. Zeke is killed but his body is missing and Riddick is suspected immediately. When searching For Zeke’s body, Fry escapes from barely light offensive underground creatures. Johns offers Riddick a deal: If he helps them escape the planet, he will be free.
